DAVID HUNTER - director of golf

Recognized as one of "America's Most Outstanding Teachers" by Golf magazine, David Hunter brings more than 20 years of golf experience to Borrego Ranch Resort & Spa. As the Director of Golf for the $25 million, 18-hole Tom Fazio Signature course at Montesoro, the luxury second-home resort community at Borrego Ranch, Hunter provides an experience that is meaningful, memorable and compels guests to return. 

 

Born in Scotland, his international tour experience affords Hunter a unique perspective and the ability to impart an understanding of how different courses influence the game for every player.

An award-winning PGA and Callaway Master professional, Hunter delivers personal, highly customized instruction for golfers of all levels, with a specialty in coaching women. Part of the numerous guest programs offered at Borrego Ranch are the fitness classes Hunter has developed: a series of routines that lessen the impact of the swing on the body, focusing on targeted strength and flexibility conditioning just for golfers.

Hunter has vast experience in launching high-end private golf facilities across the United States. Prior to his work at Borrego Ranch and Montesoro, Hunter worked as the Head Golf Professional for more than a decade at the 450 member-strong New Albany Country Club in New Albany, Ohio; home to a 27-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature course. During his tenure, Hunter managed all golf operations, including the development of the New Albany Golf Academy. 

 

Throughout his career, Hunter has also served as Golf Professional at the Columbus Country Club in Columbus,
Ohio and the Plantation Golf & Country Club in Venice, Florida. Hunter has also taught and coached several PGA and
LPGA tour players, as well as nationally ranked collegiate and junior players.
